L’INTELLIGENZA:L’ARMA VINCENTE DELL’UOMO (7)
In the individual
crises are provoked, and resolved, or a particularly favorable environment or education, or both.
Every crisis is a prerequisite for the next level of mental structure, which includes and incorporates the previous levels, but is qualitatively different.
previous preparatory levels of subsequent levels (Rey, 1930-48, I: VII). Without the first you can not have seconds. "Every level of mental structure, integrating the previous ones, unable to leave, in part, the individual from his past and to initiate new activities" (Piaget-Inhelder, 1969: 150).
Everyone can reach, theoretically, all levels of mental structure that man has developed in the phylogeny to that particular historical epoch. Theoretically, because we saw that not all individuals can achieve the same levels.
Some stay at lower levels, others - but still at higher levels - you can not abide. Only a minority will achieve stability.
This depends on many factors. The socio-economic and cultural. The political system. The education system, and, last but not least, the potential neurological (Imhelder-Piaget, 1958: 150).
The level of structure depends on the mental skills. Each level represents the culmination of what has been prepared in the previous levels.
In the early levels you acquire those skills-skills that make possible a new, different and more complete data organization of knowledge.
And this was the process through which brought about the development of levels of mental structure.
