Corrado Mastantuono : "My father was a district overseer, manual zero. I think I never saw him not even hang a picture, once perhaps unscrew a light bulb. My mother is certainly more gifted in the arts manuals but nothing to do with the design. No direct contamination then.
Imprinting I think come from cartoons of which I was diligent devourer. Kidnapped by the wonderful drawings of Disney feature films, Hanna-Barbera, Warner, etc.., then I continued my obsession with the perceptual comics. I looked reworked and put on paper. Pens, pencils, crayons even on an old door, everything was good to vent my child a creative sense.
Basically I consider myself lucky. If on one hand have a relative in the field can give you right away some technical advantage in the use of materials and the setting, the other is a chopper that makes it unsafe and dangerous path. Watching a professional at work when you're still bitter it may be fatal. It 'so great a difference between what you do and what we should be mortified and demeans you, the temptation to drop out and change jobs at that point is around the corner. Of course, it happened to anyone who has decided to tackle a creative process where you have to come out with broken bones but a comparison be unattainable under the eyes all day is unbearable. I am genuinely admired by people like John Romita Junior Enrique Breccia or who have managed to become great cartoonists despite the blinding spotlight of their fathers in history in comics. "
